Hour 2: How does Haute couture influence everyday fashion trends and when does the influence move in reverse? We’ll examine the career and work of designer Jean Paul Gaultier this hour with Kevin Tucker, the Margot B. Perot Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Dallas Museum of Art and organizer of the DMA’s presentation of The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.

    I went to the DMA with a bank travel group yesterday–60 of us.  I am 77 years old and found the exhibition wonderful.  How creative and such meticulous couturier workmanship.  I was not aware of who had introduced the exterior corset and outrageous bra cone concepts and  how influential Gautier is  in my grand children’s fashion concepts.  In my teenage years, Dior introduced the new look==and we thought that was outrageous!  The animated faces on the mannequins is one more technology that I can stand in awe of.     There are so many aspects of this exhibition that challenge the mind.
