We’ll examine the 1897 journey of a Swedish explorer who set out to discover the North Pole by hydrogen balloon with Alec Wilkinson [1], staff writer for The New Yorker. His new book is “The Ice Balloon: S. A. Andree and the Heroic Age of Arctic Exploration” (Knopf, 2012).
