The 13-Day Struggle for the Alamo

Hour 2:           What really happened in 1836 at an abandoned mission on the outskirts of San Antonio and how have the events of those days reverberated through American history? We’ll spend this hour with bestselling author James Donovan. His new book is “The Blood of Heroes: The 13-Day Struggle for the Alamo–and the Sacrifice That Forged a Nation” (Little, Brown and Company, 2012).

I think Santa Ana did not boast of killing David Crockett because he did not want to invite the United States to invade in reprisal for killing a former US Congressman, possibly the most famous American alive at the time.

What—I can’t stream this afterwards? Bummer. I had a chance to listen to about 15 minutes of it and was very interested in hearing the rest. Having been born in California (to Texan parents), my knowledge of Texas history is sadly lacking!
    Love the show.
