The Moral Limits of Markets

October 4, 2012

Hour 1:           Is our market economy shifting to a “market society” where nearly everything can be bought and sold and how might such a shift affect our concepts of morality, responsibility, and citizenship? We’ll talk this hour with Michael Sandel [1], the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University and author of the recent book “What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets” (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2012). He’ll lead a live version [2] of his BBC radio program “The Public Philosopher [3]” this Sunday the 7th at University of Dallas.
