Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies

Hour 2:           What does it take to deliver fresh produce to our grocery stores and who’s responsible for the welfare of our country’s farming workforce? We’ll talk this hour with Seth Holmes, the Martin Sisters Endowed Chair Assistant Professor of Public Health and Medical Anthropology at UC Berkeley. His new book is “Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies: Migrant Farmworkers in the United States” (University of California Press, 2013).

  • Chris Jonsson

Seth Holmes has done everyone a favor researching and writing about the compromised lives of our migrant farm workers. They are treated so badly that most of us couldn’t survive their unfair, callous, often criminal conditions to work. This should not be happening in the U.S. Time for a labor union.
