Arctic Adventure

Think 2 Comments 156

On July 8, 1879, the USS Jeannette set sail from San Francisco with the hopes of reaching the North Pole. What the crew found were unpassable waters, unending ice and an epic struggle for survival. We’ll talk this hour about what happened to the crew with Hampton Sides, who tells their story in his new book, In the Kingdom of Ice: The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette.

Be sure to check out the Dallas Morning News and New York Times book reviews.
