KERA-FM Wins Texas Associated Press Broadcast Awards
 

DALLAS/FORT WORTH – KERA-FM, the National Public Radio affiliate for North Texas, is pleased to announce the receipt of six Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (TAPB) Awards for 2008. The awards will be presented Saturday night, April 25, during the 2009 TAPB convention at the Headliners Club in Austin.

KERA News Director Shelley Kofler received top honors in the categories of Best Specialty/Beat Reporting for political coverage and Best Light Feature for her story on the World’s Best-Selling Fruitcake. She won second place for her story about Arlington General Motors workers in the area of Best General Assignments.

KERA News reporters B.J. Austin, Bill Zeeble and Shelley Kofler were awarded second place in the category of Best Continuing Coverage for their stories on "Family Values: What the Voters Want" prior to the 2008 national election. B.J. Austin received honorable mention for city government reporting in the category of Best Specialty/Beat Reporting and Bill Brown received honorable mention for coverage of the historic problems at the Dallas County Jail among Best Serious Feature entries.
