Gini MascorroGini Mascorro happily made the switch from commercial radio to KERA in April 2000 following five years as a traffic reporter for KTCK-AM “The Ticket” and several other stations. Her initial responsibilities at KERA included hosting All Things Considered and producing the Evening Talk Show with Krys Boyd before becoming midday host and engineer in 2002.  She also serves as editor and producer of the daily Deep in the Arts segment, KERA’s 60-second cultural events profile, and edits the online KERA arts calendar.  Other duties include engineering Think, copy editing and occasionally filling in for 90.1 At Night host Paul Slavens. While studying the University of North Texas, Gini hosted a late-night jazz show and worked on various projects at KNTU 88.1 FM.  After graduating from UNT with a combined degree in Radio/TV/Film, anthropology and criminal justice, she spent six months in the United Kingdom making various pilgrimages and working odd jobs in Oxford and Manchester - including pub DJ, receptionist and pet sitter - before returning to North Texas. Gini enjoys fiction writing, cooking lavish meals for friends and loved ones, traveling, rock ‘n’ roll documentaries and B-flicks, film history, musicology, book-filled rooms and girl groups – the simple things in life.
