The 4,000 seat Dallas Sportatorium made its debut as a wrestling arena, but beginning in the 1940s, it was home to the Big D Jamboree, a music show in the spirit of the Grand Old Opry. Watch this segment from Nowhere But Texas 2, first broadcast tonight on KERA Television, to see the impact the music and the venue had on Dallas.
Nowhere But Texas 2 airs again Sept. 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Beyond the sweet notes of the Big D jamboree, "No Where But Texas 2″ is an inspiring show. This one aims straight for the heart. A shout out to Linda Stogner, Therese Powell, Tom Pribyl , Ginny Martin and Rick Thompson — the artful producing staff.
Excellent for you to feature composer Mack Price in the pledge break. He deserves recognition for composing so many music tracks for KERA productions in such a faithful way.
Good job, as always, KERA ,for chronicling our culture.
