Hi, thanks for your kind comments. The film was a great pleasure to make, and I’m very glad you enjoyed it.

If you’d like to see Rolando in a live performance, he’ll be painting canvases to piano accompaniment, to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, at Victory Park on June 12. I’ve seen him do this before — the music’s great, and when the camera zooms in on the colors and brushwork, and broadcasts that on the huge screens at Victory, it should be a great experience.

For Julie, if you’re still hoping to see the film again, they plan to screen it there as well, before the performance.

I saw the film tonight, Recapturing Cuba, and want to know when it will be shown again. Once was NOT enough. Also, where can we see more of Rolando’s art? Does he have a website? My late husband, Carlos Miro, immigrated from Cuba in 1960 and was never able to return. Much of what I saw in this film reminds me so much of stories he told about Havana. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this film and I look forward to finding the gallery where Rolando Diaz art is displayed.

BRAVO to KERA and Mr. Lynch for this amazing insight into Cuban art and artists! I now want to visit there more than ever. Mr. Diaz should be very proud of his heritage and his talent and I thank him for sharing this trip with us.
