Study Finds Loud Music a Threat to Listeners
It has long been known that loud music poses a threat of hearing loss for the musicians — both rock and classical — who play it. Many musicians of both stripes use hearing protection to lessen the decibel damage. A new European study finds that listeners are also in danger, especially those who use ear buds to listen to portable audio devices. For details, click here.

WHAT?
Uh-oh, I’m already there. Unfortunately, it’s one of the hazards of being a music lover and my job, and it’s been like this as far back as I can remember: the higher the decibel level, the happier I feel.
But yeah, tinnitus and trying to convince myself that most people mutter during conversations are only a couple of the clues I need that it’s probably time to start researching hearing aids. So if anyone out there knows of any hearing aid companies who market to 30-something idjits like me whose love of loud, hard and fast has done its number on our little ears, by all means, please pass them along!
Oh, and speaking of aural pleasure, be sure to tune in for THINK today when Krys interviews the one and only Dr. Oliver Sacks about his new book, “Musicophilia.” Good times…
Ears are as fragile as teenage love. Mine have been used and abused but I carry earplugs in my wallet and use when I can at loud events. And when in doubt, I roll up damp napkin or Kleenex and place in my ear to buffer the impact. Anyone who grew up going to Acid Rock festivals ….and has been in 1000 Latin music / Musica Tropical salsa venues …knows what shrill trebles and booming bass decibel levels can do.

Still another time when the Princess of Arts in North Texas…aka Gini Mascorro… tipped me off to still another killer Krys Boyd THINK show.
