When one looks at the list, it’s no coincidence that the best art on the list at the present time is TV.
I think most critics would say the best of the recent crop of TV shows, is way above average and in many ways surpasses the batch of films we’ve had this year. This may well be a golden age of tv.
Hard times demand a reevaluation of all arts and art groups. The puffed up will shrink. The solid will build.
Huh? I disagree. With reality show dominating the TV schedule (Hole in the Wall? Are you kidding me?), and many critically acclaimed series behind us (The Wire, Sopranos, etc.), I find myself gravitating less to the boob tube and more toward wanting to go to places like museums for my entertainment.
I agree with you about reality shows. They surely are not “the best of the recent crop of TV shows.”
