    North Texas Giving Day FAQs

What is North Texas Giving Day?
North Texas Giving Day is a community-wide online giving event hosted by the Communities Foundation of Texas. It is designed to empower every North Texan to give back by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform. Donations made through NorthTexasGivingDay.org will be multiplied by bonus funds and prizes – which means your dollar will go further.

When is North Texas Giving Day?
This year, it will take place on Thursday, September 21st. Early Giving starts Friday, September 1st.

How do I donate to KERA for North Texas Giving Day?
Visit NorthTexasGivingDay.org/KERA and fill out the donation form anytime between September 1st and September 21st.

How do I choose a designation? Why do I need to?
On the donation form, please choose if you’d like your gift to go to TV, News, WRR or KXT so that your donation goes to the property you want to support.

Does donating via North Texas Giving Day make me a member of KERA/KXT?
YES! However, if you choose the “Make my donation anonymous” option at checkout, KERA will not have access to your information and will be unable to create your membership.

Please note: It takes some time for KERA to receive all the finalized information and funds from North Texas Giving Day that are needed to update membership files. This process is expected to be complete no later than January 2024.

Will I get access to KERA Passport? What is KERA Passport?
Anyone who donates $60+ one-time or $5+ monthly will receive KERA Passport access. Email instructions on how to access Passport will be sent to qualifying North Texas Giving Day donors by early October.
Passport is an on-demand streaming library that gives you 24/7 access to your favorite PBS programs when and where you want. You can view what’s available on Passport here.
Current Members: Please use the primary email address associated with your KERA membership to make your North Texas Giving Day donation. This will allow KERA to extend your Passport access for an additional year. If you are currently giving less than $60/year and your donation today will grant you Passport access, please designate the same property (TV, News, WRR, KXT) you currently support when you donate.

Where do I get my tax receipt?
When you give on North Texas Giving Day, your receipt comes from the Communities Foundation of Texas. Once your donation is processed, you will automatically receive a printable on-screen acknowledgment and an email receipt for your 100% tax-deductible donation.
Sometimes receipts get caught in spam filters so if your receipt does not arrive within a few minutes, check your junk mail folder.
Your credit card/bank statement will read: CFTexas NTX Giving Day 2147504222 TX
If you do not receive your receipt, contact North Texas Giving Day customer service at support@northtexasgivingday.org.

Why did I receive a text about North Texas Giving Day?
This year we reminded donors who have trusted us with their mobile numbers about this community day of giving. We appreciate your trust and patience as we connect with KERA’s generous supporters for this important day. If you don’t want to receive texts in the future, please reply STOP to opt out.

Is there a minimum donation amount?
The minimum gift amount is $5. All donations up to $10,000 will qualify for bonus funds from the Communities Foundation of Texas.
Donors who give $60+ to one property will receive KERA Passport.
Gifts of $1,500 or more qualify the donor as a Major Donor.

    Can I donate anonymously?
Yes. You have several options for anonymity when you give through North Texas Giving Day.

You can choose to keep the amount of your donation private by clicking the checkbox “Hide amount from public display” on the checkout form under your donation amount.

You can choose to give anonymously by clicking the checkbox “Make my donation anonymous” on the checkout form under your name and email address. When you choose this option, your gift will be completely anonymous to KERA, but Communities Foundation of Texas will receive your contact information. When you select this option, KERA will not receive any contact information for you and will not be able to recognize you as a donor or member. KERA will not be able to confirm your donation, give you access to KERA Passport or update existing giving history.

My employer matches gifts. Does my North Texas Giving Day donation qualify?
Yes! Please ask your employer to send the matching funds directly to KERA.
Please Note: Corporate matching gifts are not eligible for North Texas Giving Day bonus funds and prizes.

How will KERA know that I donated?
KERA will receive a file from Communities Foundation of Texas with contact information for all donors who did not choose the “Make my donation anonymous” option at checkout.

    Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. Your gift is 100% tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt from Communities Foundation of Texas via email for tax purposes. If you do not receive your receipt, contact North Texas Giving Day customer service at support@northtexasgivingday.org.

    Sustaining Membership Billing

In May 2019 KERA/KXT upgraded its database to better serve the needs of our members. Due to this necessary technology upgrade, you may notice some changes such as billing dates or how KERA appears on your bank or credit card statement. We now bill credit cards on the 5th, 15th and 25th of each month and bill EFT donations on the 5th and 20th of each month. If you feel there’s something we can correct on your account, please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you are behind on your monthly donation, please note that KERA will automatically attempt to perform “catch-up billing” for up to three months so that you always remain in current standing with your generous membership donation. Please give us a call at 214-740-9272 or send an email to keramembership@kera.org and we’ll take care of you.
