POSITION SUMMARY

Do you regularly refer friends to The Daily episodes or begin conversations with “I heard this story on NPR…”? Do you have a love for the arts and want to share it? Can you work independently on a variety of tasks – and get them all done? If you said “yes” – and you’re a student with aspirations of a media career – you might just be the Art&Seek Intern KERA is looking for.

Each semester KERA provides one Art&Seek intern with valuable experience in arts journalism and a chance to dive deep into the arts scene in Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton. You will get to work with award-winning journalists, and help shape Art&Seek stories for the web and radio.

All applications must include a cover letter, resume, three sample pitches for arts/culture related stories. Applications should also include samples of your work. These can include, but are not limited to, written news stories, audio stories, photography or video work. Please also include a link to an online portfolio if you have one. Applications that are incomplete will not be accepted.

Although this internship is unpaid, interns will receive academic credit for their work with KERA.

You must have some knowledge of public radio, be familiar with ArtandSeek.org, and have strong, proven writing and editing skills with a solid understanding of AP style.
