Wednesday

Art&Seek Spotlight Artist Riley Holloway has new photorealistic paintings on view in Fort Worth. Don’t let the road construction keep you from seeing “Spectrum” on view through August at Fort Works Art.

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth hosts Wonderful Wednesdays. That’s a program for families that includes free admission and docent-led tours. Go now and the focus will be on the museum’s current exhibition, “Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats its Own Leg.”

Thursday

The 2018 International Folk Art Market returns to Arlington. The market’s mission is to create economic opportunities for and with folk artists worldwide who preserve folk art traditions. So plan to visit The Green at College Park to enjoy and purchase global artwork.

“Every Brilliant Thing” is a one-person show at Fort Worth’s Circle Theatre. It recounts a life lived in the shadow of suicide and the things worth living for.

Friday

The Oak Cliff Film Festival is underway and tonight, Art&Seek Spotlight Artists Verdigris Ensemble performs the live score to a newly restored version of 1928’s “The Passion of Joan of Arc.” See it at the Texas Theatre.

The Sid Richardson Museum continues its mission to shine a light on the American West with their Movies at the Museum series. Visit the museum in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square tonight and catch a screening of the Ron Howard Western, “The Missing,” starring Cate Blanchett and Texas’ fav, Tommy Lee Jones.

Saturday/Sunday

On Saturday, Irving’s Bear Creek Heritage Center hosts a Juneteenth Celebration featuring gospel singing, funk music and an exhibition of paintings by Dallas artist Guinn Powell.

Sometimes, classical music can seem intimidating. Opera On Tap wants to change that perception. They’re taking the music out of the concert hall and bringing it to the people. Head to Lewisville Public Library to hear some of opera’s best-known pieces and little known-pieces in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

On Sunday, the Denton art collective Spiderweb Salon hosts a sci-fi literary-themed event they’re calling SpiderCon. There’ll be performances, cosplay, poetry and more. Check it out at J&J’s Pizza.

Sunday’s the final day of the Oak Cliff Film Festival. Stop by the Texas Theatre in Dallas to see ‘Never Goin’ Back’ the critically acclaimed, debut film by writer/director Augustine Frizzell.

Monday

Denton mixed media artist Betsey Gravatt has an exploratory installation on view at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. The pieces were produced using 3-D printing and laser cutting. See “Let’s Pretend” through June 28.

The People’s Art Collaborative takes on the topic of race and identity and if art can be the answer to the issues that impact our communities and world. Be part of the conversation at the East Regional Branch of the Fort Worth Public Library.

Tuesday

Photographer Paul Mobley is known for portraits of celebrities like Mike Tyson, but in the exhibition “American Farmer” he turns his lens on the country’s farmers. See the show at McKinney Performing Arts Center through August 11.

South Texan Roberto Benavidez has an exhibition of far-out sculptures inspired by creatures and characters from texts of Medieval Psalms. “Illuminated Piñata” will be on view at the Conduit Gallery through June 23.
