Yup, there’s no denying there are lots of seasonal happenings going on right now. If seeing a production of “The Nutcracker” or meeting up with family and friends at a festive parade, tree lighting, open house or other holiday-related event is what you like, we definitely got you covered. But the NorthTexas area has so much more to offer. Check out our list below for a sampling of the nearly 1,000 events listed on our Art&Seek calendar.

Wednesday

Tarrant County College has an exhibition exploring influential collectives and friendships from Fort Worth’s art scene. Be sure to catch the exhibition soon. You only have until December 7 to see the work on view at the Southeast Campus.

Never before seen photos from artist and historian Andrew Ward are on display at UT Arlington’s Visual Resources Gallery. Head there to see “Hushangabad: A Portrait of North Indian Village.

Thursday

In Fort Worth, Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis bring their Holiday Shindig to the intimate McDavid Studio across from Bass Performance Hall. Celebrate the holidays with one of country’s favorite singing duo.

Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks will moderate a panel with local arts leaders about LGBTQ and equity in the arts. Join us Thursday night for the next State of the Arts discussion at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Friday

Opera in Concert showcases two German operas sung in English. They’re calling the show “A Night in Berlin.” See it at the Sammons Center for the Arts in Dallas.

“Sacred Transmitted” is an exhibition at the University of Dallas’ Haggerty Gallery. It features stained glass window designs crafted over the past 100 years from one of the most recognized stained-glass production studios of the Midwest United States.

Saturday/Sunday

Saturday is the final day of UNT’s International Festival of Czech Music. Head to the Lyric Theater in Denton to see Leos Janáček’s “The Cunning Little Vixen.” The Czech comic opera is directed by Art&Seek Spotlight Artist Jonathan Eaton.

Also on Saturday, Grammy Award-winning bluesman Gary Clark Jr and R&B singer Tameca Jones travel north from Austin to play at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving.

Throughout the weekend, Cara Mia Theatre Company performs “Tina’s Journey” at Dallas’ Latino Cultural Center. The play is about a young girl, her family, and her ancestors who hope to cross the U.S.-Mexico border before the Day of the Dead holidays.

Fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga was revered for his hand-made costumes and jewelry. “Balenciaga in Black,” is an exhibition of more than one hundred costumes and accessories that all share one major feature: they are all black. See Balenciaga’s work at the Kimbell Art Museum through January 6, 2019.

Monday

The exhibition “Metalängen” features sculpture and illuminated artwork by Dallas artist Doug Land. See the metal-inspired art show at the Carillon Gallery at Tarrant County College’s South Campus through December 13.

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the UNT A Cappella Choir perform Handel’s Messiah tonight. Hear the thrilling choruses and triumphant orchestration at Bass Performance Hall.

Tuesday

The Hawn Gallery in the Hamon Arts Library at SMU has a cinematic installation called “Ark.” Even though the run has been extended, you only have until December 9 to view the display. The artwork was created by Dallas’ Michael A. Morris using archival 35mm film prints.

The Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibition “Cult of the Machine” takes a look at the culture of the early 20th century. It also reveals a national obsession for new technology and all things mechanical. See the show through January 6, 2019.

The Fort Worth Chorale performs some of their favorite Christmas music at the concert “Love Dwells Among Us.” The Keller High School Concert Choir shares the stage for their performance tonight at Keller United Methodist Church.
