A Sudden Venue Change For Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
ArtandSeek.net September 9, 2020 10The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra was notified by the company that manages Bass Hall that performances cannot happen this season at the iconic angel-clad building.
Performing Arts Fort Worth will extend the closure of Bass Performance Hall through at least the end of 2020.
This announcement came as a surprise to FWSO just two weeks before the opening of its Symphonic Series. The orchestra approached Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium as an alternate location for the Fall Symphonic Series and performances.
All FWSO performances will now take place at the Will Rogers Memorial Center venue beginning September 18th and through at least December. The Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium is located at 3401 West Lancaster Avenue.
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra says it will implement comprehensive COVID-19 testing for all musicians, crew and staff prior to each weekend of concerts. There will be social distancing on stage, regular temperature checks, acrylic screens, bell covers for woodwind and brass, and masks for the string section.
For audiences, the FWSO has added assigned entry times with temperature checks, mandatory mask-wearing during the performance, distanced seating in the performance chamber, and no intermissions. In addition, the company has moved its concert playbills to a digital format.
