Art&Seek Jr: Camps For Spring Breakers Part 2!

ArtandSeek.net 7

Last week’s post featuring Spring Break camps was such a hit we decided to follow it up with a part deux! And it’s no wonder. This is a subject near and dear to many of you still desperately searching for ideas to keep the munchkins occupied during their time off next week. No doubt about it, this is definitely a topic worth repeating!

Those wanting to get in touch with their inner Picasso should check out the Mesquite Arts Center quarterly event Canvas Creations this Saturday morning. The free interactive painting tutorial is for kids of all ages and is an introduction to the arts. At the end of the program, budding artists get to take their new masterpieces home. Since this is one of the most popular events of the season, organizers suggest arriving an hour before the event starts to ensure you have a spot. The seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Want to get wild? Head west to the Fort Worth Zoo this spring break for an up close and personal animal adventure. Kids Pre-1st to 5th grade can enjoy daily zoo hikes, play games, and see daily animal visitors in their classroom. You can do just one day, or sign up for the whole week. The camps are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and run Monday through Friday next week. There is also before and after care available.

Enter the world of the Middle Ages and become a member of the Royal Court at the Perot Museum’s Medieval Adventures Camp.  Kids in 1st through 4th grade can discover how people from the Middle Ages used art, science, and engineering to improve their lives as they concoct “magic” elixirs, build catapults, and storm the castle!

Get your little couch potatoes away from NetFlix and Fortnite and into nature and the great outdoors at one of the mini-camps at the Heard. Each mini-camp explores a different natural science topic. Be an animal ambassador on Tuesday, do some birding on Wednesday, and learn about the importance of flowers to local wildlife on Thursday.  Each camp also includes indoor activities and time outside exploring the 289-acre sanctuary. The half-day camps are for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Put on those overalls, a straw hat and mosey on down to the Dallas Farmers Market for the Little Farmers Spring Break Camp. Campers ages 4-8 can enjoy local farmer visits, hands-on garden play and farm fresh activities like beekeeping at these half-day camps. You can choose the full 3-day session or just one day.  This one is bound to sell out early so reserve your space now.
