Billy Bob’s Helps Future Farmers With A Virtual Concert

The Saturday, Billy Bob’s Texas teams up with the western outfitter Cavender’s, to host a virtual concert benefitting the Texas Future Farmers of America Foundation. It features some up-and-coming country acts from Texas like Parker McCollum and Koe Wetzel.

The concert’s free, but Keitha Spears with Billy Bob’s says the venue will collect donations for the FFA Foundation.

“A lot of the Texas artists that we were already thinking about reaching out to on behalf of this had already had a personal connection to the FFA,” she says. “Maybe they played at the convention or they were in it in their youth.”

The sudden spike in demand for food during the COVID-19 pandemic emphasizes the importance of agricultural work. FFA Foundation director Aaron Alejandro says that work starts in the classroom.

“We need these kids to have some information today to understand where their food comes from so that when they begin to assimilate into those leadership roles in the future, their minds will already be thinking innovatively and thinking through resiliency.”

Proceeds from the concert will help provide scholarships and leadership development opportunities for students and agricultural science teachers.
