Black Americans are far more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than their white counterparts. James Doucet-Battle, assistant professor of sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, joins host Krys Boyd to talk about the prevalence of diabetes in Black America – and to make the case that health researchers must completely rethink assumptions when it comes to the intersection of race and health. His book is “Sweetness in the Blood: Race, Risk, and Type 2 Diabetes.”
