What better way to welcome the dog days of summer than with an outdoor movie starring a dog. The Shops at Park Lane are hosting a free outdoor movie series every Friday night in June. The first film out of the gate is the 1992 dog-slobbering classic “Beethoven.” To make the event extra fun, the foster-based rescue group DFW Rescue Me will be onsite with their popular dog-kissing booth.  For a donation, cuddle with an adoptable dog and pose for a personal photo.

Another “under the stars” event happening on Friday is the Watauga MasterWorks Concert featuring Brave Combo. Everyone’s favorite nuclear polka band is back to rock your world with a mix of salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more. The fun starts at 7 p.m. at Capp Smith Park Amphitheater in Watauga and best of all–it’s free!

Stop by Keller Town Hall Pond this Saturday for free, fishing fun. Photo: Shutterstock.com

Remember the opening credits to “The Andy Griffith Show?” The scene of Andy and little Opie walking down the dirt road to the fishing hole epitomizes the idea of an old fashion summer. Your little anglers can capture that feeling and reel in the big one at Fishing for Fun this Saturday at Keller Town Hall Pond. This free fishing event for kids 16 and under is being put on by Keller Parks and Recreation and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Bring your own gear and try to catch the biggest catfish. There will be prizes for the biggest and smallest catch, as well as fishing skill challenges.
