Cliburn Finalists Will Vie For Top Spot
ArtandSeek.net June 7, 2017 30Six pianists have emerged from a rousing semifinal round at the 15th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. They’re continuing onto the final round today.

The finalists:
- Kenneth Broberg, United States
- Rachel Cheung, Hong Kong
- Yury Favorin, Russia
- Daniel Hsu, United States
- Yekwon Sunwoo, South Korea
- Georgy Tchaidze, Russia
From June 1-5, 12 semifinalists took the stage at Bass Hall in Fort Worth, each performing an hour-long solo piece and a concerto with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Now, the pianists left standing will each perform two more times: a piece with the Brentano String Quartet tonight and Thursday, and with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Friday and Saturday.
The winners of the competition will be announced at an awards ceremony Saturday, June 10. Fort Worth residents can watch the final two concerts Friday and Saturday on the big screen at Sundance Square Plaza. Classical music enthusiasts following the competition can also see a live simulcast of Saturday’s performances in theaters for the first time. (Head to Fathom Events for more info).
