Every day on Art&Seek, we’re talking to people who have tips for virtual art experiences.  Share yours with us on Facebook, Instagram, or @artandseek on Twitter. Click above to listen to Robin Benson Linek, special events manager with the Meadows Museum share her tips with KERA’s Nilufer Arsala.

This week, we learned the Meadows Museum will reopen on July 7 at reduced capacity but with regular hours.

The Meadow Museum will open July 7 with timed tickets available starting July 1. Digital resources found on #MuseumFromHome page.

Of course, the museum will implement enhanced sanitation and social-distancing measures to protect both visitors and staff. Healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential business employees will receive free admission through the month of July.

Before they began preparing to reopen, the staff took advantage of the shutdown time to add to their online resources. Director of Education Anne Kindseth and Special Events Manager Robin Benson Linek highlighted a few of them for us.

On the Color our Collection page you can find coloring pages of the museum’s most iconic works. You can trace the drawing from the computer, or print them out to color, or learn to download them to Adobe Sketch and paint by numbers on the computer.

Tiny Tours are high production value videos that are quick takes on the museum’s holdings. Museum docents narrate each video offering up keen critical insights for each work presented.

Crafternoon provides fun and educational card activities the whole family will want to participate in. Here you can learn about and practice a paint marbling technique.

Culture Corner is an exploration of Spanish culture that includes recipes, DIY and it’s hosted by Special Events Manager Robin Benson Linek. In the above video, Linek explains about San Isidro Day and how to make the doughnut confection rosquillas.

All of these resources, as well as others, can be found on the #MusuemFromHome page of their website.

The museum also offers live programs via Zoom. For the June 25th Scholars from the Sofa lecture, local historian Rebecca Quinn Teresi, will give a lecture titled “Gossip from 1623 Madrid: Velázquez and the Prince of Wales’s Quixotic Journey to Win His Bride.” The Oak Cliff-based restaurant Sketches of Spain is collaborating with the museum for the evening’s talk. The restaurant will offer a special tasting menu that you can pick-up and enjoy at home while joining in on the Zoom lecture. The lecture is free but you need to register for the talk in advance.
