51FNeRYtTIL— who is in his first season as the music director of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. The paper gave him a favorable review for conducting ‘The Nutcracker’ in November at Lincoln Center (“all the colors of Tchaikovsky’s enduringly enchanting score were especially robust”), and now he’s starting the winter season with, it turns out, three dance pieces he’s previously conducted. These include Leonard Bernstein’s ballet “Fancy Free,” which Litton performed with the DSO for a KERA TV special in 1996 (“Bernstein, Barber and Beethoven”)

By the way, if you care to hear some of that performance, it provides the background for KERA videographer Dane Walter’s terrific little “Meyerson Dance” video — part of our ‘Secrets of the Meyerson’ project
