DALLAS/FORT WORTH – KERA FM 90.1 is pleased to announce that the KERA News Team recently received multiple first place awards from both the Public Radio News Directors (PRNDI) awards and the Houston Press Club’s Lone Star Awards. The national PRNDI awards were presented the weekend of June 24 and 25, 2011, and KERA FM took home first place honors in Continuing Coverage for Banking on the River-An Update, a series by BJ Austin updating the production of the Trinity River Project; and Best Multi-Media Presentation for Your Town, Texas.
KERA FM also received many top honors from the Lone Star Awards. News Director and host, Shelley Kofler, won a first place award in Public Affairs for Economy Project: Affordable Health Care Call-In; BJ Austin received first place in the Soft News Feature category for Two Faiths Unite for a Holiday Tradition; and KERA intern, Aida Ahmed, was awarded third place in Student Category TV and Radio: News, Sports, or Feature Story for her broadcast on the effect of social media in the job hunt, Job Hunting? Face-to- Face Trumps Online.
